Post-war camp,
Musul 2017 | Selim Atak, Silvia Campi

The proposal investigates how the population displaced after the civil war can resettle in Mosul and its surroundings, offering a phased approach to the resettlement process. Firstly, the proposal suggests setting up a temporary camp on the island located on the Tigris River. The temporary housing units are planned to be constructed using recyclable, compressed paper panels. First aid buildings, registration and administrative offices, places of worship, and dining facilities are proposed to be built using bricks obtained from the ruins of Mosul. After the temporary housing units are removed, the island is recommended to be used as a post-war memorial park. The spaces created with recycled bricks will be left as statues in the park.

The second proposal involves designing agricultural communities in the rural areas of Mosul, across the Tigris River. These communities are intended to be permanent and to support agricultural development in the long term.
